Ethereum and Base developers have stopped collaborating on a project to align two account abstraction proposals (EIP-8130 and EIP-8141) to pursue separate proposals, according to Ethlabs developer Derek Chiang. Both designs aim to make wallets easier to use, including gasless transactions and passkeys. The talks fell short of a shared standard after the two sides diverged on priorities: Ethereum is emphasizing censorship resistance and security, while Base is optimizing for scale and compliance.
