ConsenSys-owned crypto wallet provider MetaMask has sent a warning to the community about phishing attacks against Apple iCloud.
Security issues for iPhone, Mac, and iPad users are related to default device settings that see the user’s seed phrase or “password-encrypted MetaMask vault” stored in iCloud if users have enabled automatic backup of their app data.
In a Twitter thread posted on April 18, MetaMask states that users are at risk of losing money if their Apple passwords are “not strong enough” and that attackers can phishing their account information.

The notice from MetaMask comes in response to a report from an NFT collector using Twitter “revive_dom” on April 15 that his entire wallet has lost $650,000 in assets and NFTs due to security concerns.
An earlier post, “Serpent,” the founder of the DAPE NFT project, caught the attention of MetaMask, with a post sharing a story with his 277,000 followers, outlining the problems facing the victims.
They noted that the victim received multiple messages asking to reset his Apple ID password, along with an incoming call from Apple that was a fake caller ID.
