Ethereum’s Layer 2 ecosystem is hitting new milestones! zkSync Era just crossed 200M+ transactions, while Arbitrum and Optimism continue to dominate DeFi volumes. Meanwhile, Base (Coinbase’s L2) is seeing explosive growth in onchain social apps.

🔥 Gas fees remain low across L2s—sub-$0.01 on Optimism & Arbitrum for swaps. Mainnet still active but L2 adoption is the real story of 2024.

🧠 Vitalik’s latest thoughts? He’s pushing for “The Purge” to simplify Ethereum’s protocol, reducing historical data bloat and making node operation cheaper. Also, EIP-7702 (account abstraction) is gaining traction for better UX.

💧 Staking: Over 32M ETH now staked

The Ethereum ecosystem is buzzing with activity as EigenLayer’s restaking protocol surpasses $12B in total value locked (TVL), signaling massive demand for shared security among Layer 2s and emerging dApps. This innovation allows ETH stakers to reuse their staked ETH to secure multiple networks, amplifying capital efficiency without sacrificing decentralization.

Meanwhile, Base—Coinbase’s L2 built on Optimism’s OP Stack—just hit a record of over 8M daily transactions, proving that scalability solutions are actively onboarding users. Gas fees on L2s remain under $0.01 for most swaps, making DeFi accessible at scale.

Vitalik Buterin recently published a new post on “dencun” future upgrades, emphasizing the importance of “EIP-4844” (Proto-Danksharding) to dramatically cut L2

Today’s quick ETH update:

🔹 Layer 2s are thriving. Optimistic and ZK rollups are pushing transaction costs to pennies (or less), while keeping Ethereum’s security. More users, more volume, more creativity.

🔹 Gas fees on L1? Still variable, but L2s are the go-to for

The L2 ecosystem now settles more daily transactions than ETH mainnet, while inheriting its security. But don’t sleep on mainnet: staking adoption is climbing past 33% of total supply,

Layer 2 networks (Optimistic & ZK rollups) are now handling the bulk of transaction volume, shaving costs and boosting speed while inheriting Ethereum’s security. The goal? Scaling without sacrificing decentralization.

Key milestones to watch:
– EIP-4844 (Proto-Danksharding) laid the groundwork for cheaper blob data → lower L2 fees
– ZK rollups are maturing fast — faster proofs, better EVM compatibility
–

zk-Rollups and Optimistic Rollups now handle millions of daily transactions at a fraction of mainnet fees. Gas costs on L2s are often below $

Blob space from EIP-4844 has dramatically cut L2 costs, while Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and zkSync are eating into legacy chains’ market share. The result? Cheaper, faster, and more decentralized UX for everyone.

Meanwhile, Ethereum staking just crossed 32M ETH — a sign of deep conviction from the community. 🌐

The Merge was only the beginning. Proto-Danksharding sets the stage for full Danksharding, bringing data availability at scale. With EigenLayer reshaping restaking and DeFi TVL climbing back above $50B, the ecosystem is healthier than ever.

Vitalik continues pushing for account abstraction & social recovery to make wallets user-friendly for the next billion.

The Ethereum mainnet just saw a massive uptick in L2 activity, with daily transactions hitting new highs across Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base! 🎉 This surge is a testament to Ethereum’s scaling roadmap—more users, lower fees, and faster confirmations.

Meanwhile, staking continues to thrive: over 33 million ETH is now staked, securing the network while earning rewards. The beacon chain is stronger than ever with a 4.5%+ APR for validators.

In DeFi, liquid staking tokens like stETH and rETH are becoming the backbone of onchain lending, powering billions in TVL across protocols. The modular thesis is real—Ethereum is evolving into a settlement layer for an entire multi-chain world.

💡 **Fun fact:** EIP-4844

The Dencun upgrade (EIP-4844) is a game-changer for Ethereum L2s. Since March 2024, blob-carrying transactions have

Dencun is here, and Layer 2 fees are already dropping like a stone. Blobs (EIP-4844) are the real deal – rollups now post data at a fraction of the cost, making L2 transactions cheaper than ever. Optimism, Arbitrum, Base – all benefiting.

Meanwhile, staking keeps growing: over 30M ETH staked, securing the network while rewarding valid
